Thanksgiving Week

It's a short week, so that's a plus. I get to spend time with all those people I love so much! My niece, her husband and kids come up from Southern California. My boys and their families join in. We all usually end up at my sister's house with a few other family members and maybe even a few friends for a genuine feast!

This year I am thankful for so much, my family, friends, my health..... But I am also so thankful to have finished YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW (and truth be told, I think my editor is pretty thankful for that, too!). I can say I will thouroughly enjoy the holiday knowing that that is checked of my list! I really had a lot of fun with this one, but it's holiday time, and then onto the next!!

This year we'll try something new, a turducken (I'm not sure if that's even how you spell it??). My son, who's a trained chef, had the idea, and my family is usually up for just about anything, so we said, go for it!! For those of you unfamiliar, and I was until he explained it to me, a turducken is a turkey stuffed with a duck that's stuffed with a chicken. Ok, I think that's right.... Anyway, should be an adventure, and who knows, maybe a new tradition!

I would love to hear about your holiday traditions, let me know some of your favorites! Hope you all have a wonderful holiday! And for any of you braving Black Friday, good luck! You won't catch me out that day!!

  1. We are gearing up for the Christmas holidays, as we, Canadians this is, have our Thanksgiving in October.
Like your family we would have loads of family, extended family and friends for holiday meals. Our motto is there is always an empty chair at the table for that unexpected guest...
Those days have changed. A lot of the family is split up now and my parents are both gone now and we try to make the best of it. I have a get together here for all the kids in Decemeber. I have lots of neices and nephews. We have a pizza party, trim the tree and to the park for Sparkle in the Park. The local Rotary club decorated s the park with fantastic lighted displays. The kids have a great time. They can ride the merry go round with Santa. then we come back to my house and have dessert and hot chocoale.. Chritmas Eve is spent with my oldest neice and a few of my brothers, and then Christmas day is quite...
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving and enjoy being with all your family and friends..

  2. So, how did you like the Turducken? Not something I'd eat...much to my hubby's dismay.

Personally, I'm in chaos this year as I'm in the process of moving from NY to FL...so, maybe next week we'll finally go get our tree!

This is the first Black Friday I didn't go shopping...and it killed me. It's people like that Pepper Spray idiot that ruin BF treks! There are 2 BF shoppers, the ones that do it every year as a quest - they are happy, laughing and looking forward to see what amazing finds they can get. We share past hunting stories while on line, talk about what we're hoping to find this year and share a cameraderie.

I have had someone I had chatted with online grab something they knew I had wanted because as they passed it, it was the last one left and found me in store to give it to me. I of course have payed that forward.

Then there are the idiots who HAVE to get that one item. They are only out for that sale and will do whatever needed to get it - trample a security guard, pepper spray someone. Spoils it for the rest of us.

So, no BF shopping for me this year, but I have like zero shopping done!

Wishing you and everyone a happy and healthy holiday season.

    Merry Christmas, Ren
